| 20 May 2005 Medical Pedagogy Takes Spotlight at SGH-Stanford Joint Update
Improving clinical teaching was the focus of the 12th SGH-Stanford Joint Update. The Joint Update was presented by the Stanford Faculty Development Center.
From 17 to 19 May 2005, Prof Kelley Skeff and Dr Georgette Stratos guided participants through a series of mini-workshops covering establishing a positive learning climate, control of session, communication of goals, feedback, promotion of understanding and retention, and promotion of self-directed learning. The experiential nature of the workshops meant that participants were involved in small group learning, role plays, videotape reviews and feedback. Participants comprised clinicians as well as allied health and nursing professionals.
The annual Joint Update is a programme arising from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SGH and Stanford University Hospital to promote mutually beneficial exchanges of information.
